What is a moving average cross? A simple introduction to the trading system

A moving average cross is a tool commonly used by traders. When a faster moving average (the one with a shorter period) is crossed over any slower moving average (the two with a longer period), such a cross is considered a bull cross (commonly known as a golden cross), while the opposite is a bear cross (commonly known as a dead cross).

Moving average crosses are considered to be indicators of a shift in market momentum. When a major economic indicator crosses a preset signal line, traders will take this as a warning sign of a shift in momentum or trend. But as we mentioned, moving average crosses are relatively common, and it is not reliable to trade based solely on this technical indicator. Sometimes we need the assistance of other indicators.

The signal sent by the moving average cross is very useful for range oscillation or trend market, but in trend market, the signal strength given by the moving average cross is not as strong as that of range oscillation market.

Moving averages are a very useful tool for traders and one of the most mainstream technical indicators.

What is a moving average cross? A simple introduction to the trading system (Figure 1)

There are many useful momentum indicators in technical analysis, one of which is the moving average crossing.

Like Bollinger bands,Moving AverageIt can also be used as a momentum and support/resistance indicator. By setting moving averages for different time periods in the icon, you will get a very useful momentum indicator - a moving average cross.

Moving average crossovers are divided into two types:

The first type of moving average crossover is when the current price rises above or falls below a certain moving average.

The second is the intersection of the short-period moving average and the long-period moving average.

Each suggests a shift in momentum, and can also be considered an early sign of a market shift.

When prices move above or below an important moving average, such a breakout can be considered a shift in momentum, or a signal of a trend shift.

In addition to relying on double Bollinger bands to provide kinetic energy signals, you can also use more kinetic energy andtrend signalIndicators such as moving average crossover are used to help you better judge the market.

For example, a trader may not close his long position when using some technical indicators unless both of the following conditions are met:

    1. The price fell below the double Bollinger Bands buying zone

    2. Prices fall below the moving average

That is, unless both of the above markers are met simultaneously, traders will not assume that the trend has completely reversed.
