Trend is one of the most fundamental concepts in technical analysis. The concept of trend movement is based on predicting the decision direction of market participants.

Affected by the advantages of both the long and the short sides, the market can be divided into an uptrend, a downtrend, a sideways fluctuation, and a state without a clear trend.

An uptrend is characterized by prices continuously reaching new higher levels and exceeding previous local highs. Lines linking most of the lows form an uptrend line with a positive slope.

A downtrend is characterized by a sustained decline in the price to a new lower level or below the previous local low. Lines linking most of the highs form a downtrend line with a negative slope.

The sideways trend is manifested as the trend line remains level, limiting price fluctuations and causing prices to oscillate back and forth within a narrow range.

An uptrend indicates that the market is in short supply, forcing investors to buy at a higher price. However, when the uptrend line is breached, such as when an angle is skewed, this is usually a signal that the uptrend is weakening and can be taken as a selling reference. InGTCIn foreign exchange and other trading practices, investors often rely on such technical signals to assist in decision-making.

A downtrend indicates that the market is oversupplied and sellers are competing to sell at a lower price. But if the downtrend line is broken, such as an angle skew, it often means that the downside power is weakened, which is seen as a potential buying signal.

The sideways trend reflects the relative balance of supply and demand in the market. Prices mainly fluctuate back and forth within the horizontal range of the trend line, when the market direction is not clear.
